I heard those words inside me while singing a worship song at church on January 2nd. I like rhyming, so this statement caught my attention, and I began to think about what those words meant. The turn of a new year is a good time to evaluate the past year and make plans for the next one. It’s a time for learning and growing from the difficulties of the past while building on successes and believing in possibilities for the future. And it’s time to let some things go from the last year and move into the new beginnings a new year offers.
The news overall changed very little in 2021. A lot of it was bad, divisive, disheartening, and sad. 2021 is done!! I/we have a chance to bring about change in 2022. Voice and Vision will perpetuate good news this year by highlighting hope, health, and honor.
HOPE: We are blessed at Voice and Vision to talk to people every day who have overcome challenges related to mental health, addictions, and disabilities. We enjoy sharing these stories with those who are walking through difficult times to inspire hope and resiliency. As people working through similar challenges ourselves, we never give up hope and never give in to fear or negativity that tries to silence the VOICE of overcomers. We commit to bringing that VOICE of hope to new audiences in 2022 through our Help and Hope Guides, video podcasts, and new platforms.
HEALTH: We are dedicated to enlarging our partner base with those who want to shape VISION and take action toward developing new and/or improved services and supports in 2022. The VISION of individuals matters too. We will expand our peer and advocacy services and increase the use of H.A.N.D.® (Hope and New Directions®) as a way that children, youth, families, and individuals can identify their strengths, enVISION their future, overcome barriers, build relationships, and take defined steps to fulfill their goals and dreams.
HONOR: We will honor our board, staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and funders for all they do and celebrate their support that helped us reach 25 years of providing services in 2022. We will continue to be grateful to the individuals and families who bless us with their time, share their VOICE, and allow us to be a part of their VISION through our daily work. We pledge to develop new strategies to better advocate for the needs of individuals and families, so their VOICE is heard and their VISION is realized.
2022 is new!! We wish you and yours a year of new beginnings full of hope, health, and happiness.
