Dear Ms. Corona

Written on by Dr. Kia F. Everett

Dear Ms. Corona,

You came into our lives in 2020 and changed all of our lives forever.  Life as we know it will never be the same.  You, Corona, a virus that has hit our nation by storm.  I am reminded of a scripture in the bible which states, “when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19).   Ms. Corona, you came in like a flood, but I’m serving you notice there’s a standard already lifted against you.  You will not win! The winner is not you!

Covid-19 has taken everyone by surprise, but it has not taken God by surprise.  Communities, families, schools, churches, etc., have all been greatly affected.  However, through the camaraderie and sense of community and showing of God’s love the original design of family and unity is being re-established.  Corona you have taken many lives, and many worldly possessions from us, but you have caused us to rid ourselves of the fluff of life and to focus on the things that really matter.  Many have lost their jobs but have learned the true difference between God being their source and He who supplies the resources.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Ms. Corona, although everyone has been affected economically, African Americans have always had to be resourceful.  You have just caused us to go back to our bag of tricks and resources and pull out what momma and they have always taught us. (smile).

Ooooh the sneak attack you tried to have on the African Americans, but fight is what we do.  Again, with the Greater One at the Helm of our Being – how can we lose?  Yes, many have died, quarantine is making many lose their minds, but either way Victory is our portion.  Be not deceived God is not mocked whatever a man sows that he shall also reap.  Corona, I promise you 2020 was the year you came and decided to make your claim.  But as long as there is breath, you have not won.

To those of you who are reading this yes this is not your traditional blog, but I hope this has encouraged you to stay in the fight.  As long as you are reading this you have breath and you are in the fight.  As long as you are fighting you are winning! Corona, Covid-19 has no victory. Victory belongs to us! God is in Control!

Signed,
