Voice and Vision, Inc. is pleased to announce we received grant funding from two foundations. One grant provided funding for our College Plus program and the other covered much needed funding related to expenses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are so grateful for each of these wonderful foundations who help non-profit organizations serve members of their community and support the goals of their mission.
College Plus received a grant from the Joseph Jocelino Gaskill Education Fund through The Philadelphia Foundation in the amount of $3,541.70. The fund was established in 2010 by Joseph and Almerinda Gaskill in honor of their late son Joseph. Each year this fund helps Voice and Vision’s College Plus Initiative to fund and support people who have mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders go to college and live out their college/career dreams.
Each College Plus student receives funding for one course and the cost of books at Bucks County Community College. The students also walk through the semester with support from a Certified Peer Specialist, and they take part in developing their personal H.A.N.D.® plan that provides guidance, so their goals and dreams are realized.
We appreciate the ongoing, generous donation from Mr. and Mrs. Gaskill. With their donation, along with a contract from the Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health/Developmental Programs, around 42 students receive funding and support each year.
The second grant we received was from Foundations Community Partnership in the amount of $4,000 to cover expenses related to changes in services the COVID-19 pandemic created. Voice and Vision continued to provide our unique, valued services to individuals and families in Bucks, Chester, and Delaware Counties. This grant from Foundations Community Partnership, dedicated to services provided in Bucks County, along with a CARES grant from Bucks County Department of Behavioral Health/Developmental Programs, supported all the changes we needed in order to serve people through Zoom and other virtual methods while continuing to safeguard everyone’s information and offering training to staff to maintain our excellent customer service and support to everyone we serve.
Please see the Happy New Year 2021 Blog https://voiceandvisioninc.org/blog/entry/welcome-to-a-new-year-2021/ for a list of all the work we accomplished even through the midst of governmental mandates and working to keep everyone well and safe. This success is due in part to our generous funders. Thank you.
